Fishing Hunting Report 10-14-2007

Fishing Report from Bandon:

"The river, the river, the river is where the action is," Wayne Butler of Prowler Charters says," This week we should have excellent opportunities to catch new fish moving in with the rain. We just hope it doesn't rain too much as to blow out the Coquille. According to Butler most fish are still in the 20 to 30 lbs class. Fish are being caught from the Highway 101 Bridge up river to Bear Creek. He advises to pay attention to the tides.

"Continue to troll plug-cut herring with about 2 oz. of weight tied with a light line to the bottom arm of a spreader. The bait is tied to the upper arm using about a 3 to 4 ft. leader behind the spreader." Silvers are hitting; remember let every one know they can only take the fin clipped ones."

From Reedsport:

"The Umpqua is GOOD!" John Swanson of Swede's Guide Service reports catching about a fish per day. "We are catching and sometimes loosing them at the boat but that's ok because the action of these late run fish is great." "This week's rain should help thing even more. Casting for Silvers (Coho) near Scottsburg is hot. We're using hot shots, we-warts and #6 blue fox spinners with chartreuse bells."

From Lemolo Lake Resort:

"This last week we have been seeing big browns and rainbows at the inlets of the lake," reports Diana Lamb of Lemolo Lake Resort. She says the guys are all doing well with RAPALAS and minnow like lures.

From Diamond Lake Resort:

Elk Hunters should have a good season this year. Track able snow is on the ground now at about the 6000 ft. level.

Those who are willing to brave the weather are catching quality trout.

"Same as last week," Rick Rockholt reports bait fishing with Power Bait in florescent orange with garlic or anis oil added is still a good method. Trolling has also been good using fluorescent orange needle fish. With the recent cold look in to a little deeper holes with your sonar and also look for areas with 52 degree water," says Rick.

As Last week the best areas to fish are near the south end of Diamond Lake in 20 feet of water just outside the weed beds.
