Big Bulls, Great Stories Always to Remember
Here we are, mid September. The time of year when trees start to shed leaves. The air gets a bit cooler and filled with more moisture than a month ago. Go ahead take in one big breath of air tomorrow morning. If you are a true outdoorsman or woman you'll automatically know hunting season is just around the corner.
Hunters get ready for the occasion each and every year. Some by attending a local gun show such as the one produce by the Roseburg Rod and Gun Club. Some hunters brag about their pet rifle, muzzle velocities, impact ratings and such. And of course some, telling the stories of seasons past that fill every little Coffee Shop in the area.
For some hunters, a State that offers earlier seasons are attractive, such the story of Carl Watson of Winston, and his nephew Brad Zuver of Roseburg. Their trip this year took them to the hills just outside of Lindon, Utah, in the Hell's Canyon Unit. The temperature was warm, averaging 75 degrees. "It was T-Shirt weather with bugs and flies out everywhere", says Watson. "And the bulls were bugling all around."
Carl, a local rancher set out with his party on horse back, spotted his bull and made the final approach on foot to bag a huge 6x6 around 9am. Brad and his hunt were all on foot. Spot and Stalk was the method. He bagged his trophy 6x6 near 6pm.
By the look of the photo you can bet for this season and ones to follow their story will be shared in every coffee shop and café they visit. Great stories and great memories, that's what the outdoors is all about
